MET GmbH has performed an in depth diagnosis and assessment for a summation gearbox of 2 x 2650 kW for propulsion of vessel “Kaunas Seaways”. The owner AB DFDS Seaways ordered the investigation of the current technical condition and reliability after 25 years of operational time.
During the short time of docking of the ferry, two large gear boxes (2 x 2650 kW) were repaired. In early March, the MET GmbH has successfully completed the repair of the engine block of a main engine on the ferry “Vilnius” of AB DFDS Lisco.
For the past 9 years MET GmbH. has been successfully recovering exhaust valves for large two-stroke marine diesel engines with very short throughput time (10 days).
Presently at MET GmbH. we are running preparations for the fourth modification of a maritime gear unit. The current project deals with an Atlantik 488 series factory vessel built in Volkswerft Stralsund.
